Day 160 · June 9
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: 1 KINGS 5:1-6:38
- New Testament: ACTS 7:1-29
- Psalm: PSALM 127:1-5
- Proverb: PROVERBS 16:28-30
Old Testament
Solomon builds the Temple with great care. The house is magnificent, but its true importance is that God chooses to place His name among His people.
New Testament
Stephen retells Israel’s story, showing that God has always been at work beyond buildings and human expectations. The story is moving toward God’s true Deliverer.
Psalm
Unless the LORD builds the house, human labor is ultimately empty.
Proverb
Deceitful speech divides people. Guard words that quietly damage relationships.
Discover
Solomon builds a temple, but Jesus is the true meeting place between God and humanity. Through Him, God is building a living people.
Reflect
Am I building something God never asked me to build, or joining what He is building?
Fellowship
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
Go around the group and complete this sentence: “This week I saw Jesus in ______.” Keep it simple and give everyone room to answer.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You and shape my life by Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me grace to trust, obey, and follow You today. Amen.
Live
Build one thing today that strengthens another person’s faith. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.
