Today’s readings

- Psalm: PSALM 54:1-7
- Proverb: PROVERBS 11:5-6
Discover
Numbers shows us a holy God whom sinful people cannot approach casually. Then Mark brings us to the cross. Jesus makes the way. The innocent Jesus takes the place of the guilty. Barabbas deserves punishment but walks free. Jesus has done nothing wrong, yet He goes to the cross. Barabbas goes free because Jesus takes his place. And so do we. Then the Temple curtain tears. What humanity could never accomplish, Jesus accomplishes through His sacrifice. It ALL points to Jesus.
Reflect
Imagine Barabbas walking away while Jesus is led toward the cross. Now put yourself in his place. Jesus took the punishment we deserved so that we could receive the life we could never earn. How does that change the way I look at the cross?
Fellowship
Talk with someone about this: What does the torn Temple curtain tell us about what Jesus accomplished on the cross?
Prayer
Father, thank You for sending Jesus to take my place. Help me never become so familiar with the cross that I forget what it cost. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day. Amen.
Live
Remember the cross. You do not have to earn your way into God's presence. Jesus opened the way. Walk with Him today in gratitude.
