Day 262 · September 19
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: ISAIAH 30:12-33:9
- New Testament: GALATIANS 5:1-12
- Psalm: PSALM 63:1-11
- Proverb: PROVERBS 23:22
Old Testament
Judah keeps looking to Egypt, but salvation is found in returning and resting in God. The LORD longs to be gracious and promises righteous rule.
New Testament
Christ has set believers free. Paul warns them not to return to a system of earning righteousness.
Psalm
David thirsts for God in the wilderness and finds His faithful love better than life.
Proverb
Listen to your parents and honor the wisdom of age.
Discover
Jesus offers freedom, not another form of slavery. Isaiah says strength is found in quiet trust; Galatians says freedom is found in Christ. Both confront our instinct to save ourselves.
Reflect
What burden am I carrying as though I must earn God's acceptance?
Fellowship
What does Christian freedom free us from - and free us for?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep me standing in the freedom You purchased. Make my soul thirst for You. Amen.
Live
Do one act today from freedom and gratitude, not from fear or the need to prove yourself.
