Day 253 · September 10
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: ISAIAH 6:1-7:25
- New Testament: 2 CORINTHIANS 11:16-33
- Psalm: PSALM 54:1-7
- Proverb: PROVERBS 23:1-3
Old Testament
Isaiah sees the LORD high and holy, confesses his uncleanness, receives cleansing, and is sent. Then God gives the sign of Immanuel: God with us.
New Testament
Paul's 'boasting' becomes a list of suffering and weakness. True ministry is not measured by comfort or image but by faithfulness.
Psalm
David calls on God when enemies surround him and trusts the Lord as his helper.
Proverb
Self-control matters even at a ruler's table; appetite can quietly master us.
Discover
Isaiah's vision exposes our sin, but cleansing comes from God. The promise of Immanuel moves the story toward Jesus - God with us - who makes unclean people fit for God's presence.
Reflect
When God's holiness exposes something in me, do I hide or confess?
Fellowship
What does Paul's weakness teach us about the difference between appearance and faithfulness?
Prayer
Holy Jesus, cleanse me, send me, and teach me to trust Your presence more than my strength. Amen.
Live
Answer God's 'Whom shall I send?' with one willing act of service.
