It All Points to Jesus

Day 206 · July 25

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Old Testament

Asa begins well, removes idols, and seeks God, but later relies on human power rather than the Lord. A strong beginning still requires continued trust.

New Testament

Paul grieves for Israel and wrestles with God’s sovereign mercy and purpose.

Psalm

Creation and Scripture both declare God’s glory and expose our need for cleansing.

Proverb

Wine can deceive and master the person who treats it carelessly.

Discover

Asa’s story warns us not to outgrow dependence on God. Romans reminds us that salvation rests in God’s mercy, not human achievement. Jesus remains our only confidence.

Reflect

Where have I begun relying on myself after once depending on God?

Fellowship

Why can success make dependence on God harder?

Prayer

Jesus, keep me dependent on Your mercy from beginning to end. Amen.

Live

Return one self-reliant area of life to God today.
