A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: 1 KINGS 15:25-17:24
- New Testament: ACTS 10:24-48
- Psalm: PSALM 134:1-3
- Proverb: PROVERBS 17:9-11
Old Testament
Israel’s kings continue their downward path, but Elijah appears and announces drought. God feeds His prophet, provides for a widow, and restores her son to life.
New Testament
Peter proclaims Jesus as Lord of all. While he speaks, the Holy Spirit falls on Gentiles, proving that God welcomes all who trust Christ.
Psalm
A short call for God’s servants to bless the LORD.
Proverb
God weighs hearts and relationships. The call is to integrity, not religious appearance.
Discover
Elijah raises a widow’s son, anticipating the life-giving power seen fully in Jesus. Acts announces Him as Lord of all and welcomes Gentiles by the Spirit.
Reflect
Do I truly believe Jesus is Lord of all people - not only people like me?
Fellowship
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
Go around the group and complete this sentence: “This week I saw Jesus in ______.” Keep it simple and give everyone room to answer.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You and shape my life by Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me grace to trust, obey, and follow You today. Amen.
Live
Treat one person you might overlook as someone Jesus came to save. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.
