Day 158 · June 7
A devotional for today
Today’s readings
- Old Testament: 1 KINGS 2:1-3:2
- New Testament: ACTS 5:1-42
- Psalm: PSALM 125:1-5
- Proverb: PROVERBS 16:25
Old Testament
David charges Solomon to walk faithfully. Justice comes to unresolved enemies, yet Solomon’s early compromise warns that even a wise king can drift.
New Testament
Ananias and Sapphira reveal the seriousness of hypocrisy. The apostles keep preaching despite arrest and beating, rejoicing that they suffer for Jesus’ name.
Psalm
Those who trust the LORD are secure like Mount Zion.
Proverb
A path can seem right and still end in death. We need God’s truth, not merely our instincts.
Discover
Every human king is mixed. Jesus alone obeys the Father perfectly, and His apostles show what loyal obedience looks like: obey God rather than men.
Reflect
Where must I choose obedience to God over approval from people?
Fellowship
Share one place in today’s reading where you saw Jesus more clearly. Then discuss the reflection question together.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You and shape my life by Your Word. Holy Spirit, give me grace to trust, obey, and follow You today. Amen.
Live
Choose obedience in one place where approval has been controlling you. Lord Jesus, help me not only to know Your Word but to live it. Transform my heart so that my life reflects You more each day.
