It All Points to Jesus

Day 149 · May 29

A devotional for today

Today’s readings

Old Testament

Absalom returns but reconciliation remains incomplete, and rebellion grows until David leaves Jerusalem.

New Testament

Jesus is arrested after protecting His disciples. He stands before religious authorities while Peter follows at a distance.

Psalm

God's word gives wisdom, light, and a path through darkness.

Proverb

Better a little with righteousness; people plan, but the LORD directs steps.

Discover

David leaves Jerusalem because his son seizes the throne. Jesus leaves the garden under arrest because He willingly gives Himself. The true King does not save Himself at the expense of His people.

Reflect

When following Jesus becomes costly, do I move closer or follow at a distance?

Fellowship

Ask someone to pray for courage to stay near Jesus under pressure.

Prayer

King Jesus, keep me close when discipleship costs something. Thank You for giving Yourself for us. Amen.

Live

Identify one place where you need to stop following at a distance.
